Abandoning Perfection

November 24, 2016 by livinglightlyinireland

Recently I read an interview with Douglas McMaster, chef and founder of Zero Waste restaurant Silo in Brighton. He made a very interesting point in relation to waste when asked about examples of waste in restaurants, such as the Fat Duck binning plates ready to go to a table if they sit for longer than […]

I've been a right zero waste floozie this weekend. This time with Jess in @the.good.neighbour in Dundrum. So delighted to have this gem on my doorstep now. Jess and I met when she emailed me from Canada for advice on opening a zero waste store in Ireland. We had great chats about location and business models. It's great to see all her hard work coming to fruition. I for one will be a regular visitor.
Such a lovely time opening &Keep for @ecoanniepooh in Greystones today. Fabulous people and great range of products. Managed to buy a few items that I've been seeking for a while. Lucky Greystones! Best of luck Anne. I'll be down again.
Pictures frames upcycled into jewellery displays. What a clever idea! These ones are available for buy at the Christmas fair at @rediscoveryctr in Dublin 9 today and tomorrow. This is not a sponsored post.
Since I’ve had children and ceased to have two milliseconds to rub together my lovely locks, which to date had been trouble free and well behaved, started to resemble the back end of neglected ewe more times that not. I despairingly trying everything from expensive hair treatments to a multitude of different hair styles. Nothing worked so I resigned myself to tying my hair up in a pony tail for the rest of my life. As part of my journey to zero waste I encountered shampoo bars and hoped that they might offer the solution, but alas you can read all about my dismal experience with shampoo bars on the blog. Then I heard about low-poo and no-poo (I know the terms doesn’t do itself any favours). This week's post is my experience of that process plus some tips on greening your haircare routine. Link in bio
Looking forward to officially opening &keep by @ecoanniepooh in Greystones, Co Wicklow this Sat at 1pm. Come down and say hi.
Organic 4-ingredient palm-oil-free low-waste hot chocolate anyone? This disc made by @properchocolate and @picadomexican contains organic cocoa beans, organic sugar and Mexican cinnamon. Simply melt it with 600ml of you favourite milk. Packaging is two sheets of greaseproof paper and stickers. Costs €3.80 which yields 2 large cups of hot chocolate. Kids loved it. Great for xmas stockings. This is not a sponsored post
